News | BRPTO grants Geographical Indication for coffee in the Southwest of Minas Gerais

On July 25, 2023, the BRPTO published the recognition of the Geographical Indication (GI), in the form of Indication of Provenance (IP), for coffees in the Southwest of Minas Gerais. The recognition highlights the importance of the region for the production of coffee at state and national levels.

The request was made by Associação dos Cafeicultores do Sudoeste de Minas, and this is the 113th Geographical Indication granted by the BRPTO. Of these GIs, 80 are Indications of Provenance (all national) and 33 Denominations of Origin (24 national and 9 foreign).
