Advances in AI regulations in Brazil and its impact
The Senate approved the text of the Artificial Intelligence bill on December 10. This regulatory framework represents a significant step toward balancing technological innovation with the protection of fundamental rights, especially intellectual property rights.
The text covers topics such as:
- Fair compensation for copyrighted content used to train AI models.
- Regulation of high-risk AI systems, including those used for traffic control, immigration management, and hiring processes.
- Guarantee the right to human oversight for decisions made by automated systems. At Simões IP, we are closely monitoring the following steps to assist our clients in understanding and adapting to this new landscape.
The bill now moves to the House of Representatives, where it will be discussed in specific committees and the plenary session.
The text may undergo changes before final approval, particularly on issues such as internet regulation and copyright compensation, which have already faced opposition from certain groups and the technology sector.
