Brazil and China sign memorandums to enhance IP protection
On May 13, 2025, Brazil and China strengthened their cooperation in the field of industrial property. The formalisation of this partnership was marked by the signing of two memorandums of understanding by the president of Brazil’s National Institute of National Property (INPI), Júlio César Moreira.
Of these documents, one was signed with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The objective of the agreement is twofold: firstly, to enhance the protection of intellectual property rights, and secondly, to stimulate economic growth in both countries.
The other memorandum was signed with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation. The primary objective of the initiative is to safeguard consumers and Geographical Indications (GIs), whilst also establishing a reliable conduit for the dissemination of information, knowledge and experiences between the two nations.
