INPI releases top intellectual property applications of 2024

The Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has released a ranking of the top applicants for patents, trademarks, industrial designs and programme computers in Brazil.

An examination of the most significant developments in innovation within the nation is recommended.

Patents of Invention – Residents

Top 50 Residents – 1.995 requests

  • 70% are universities and publics institutes
  • 1st place: in the automotive sector
  • 2nd place: in the oil and gas sector
  • 3rd and 4th places: public universities from the state of Paraíba
  • 2 individual inventors from the education sector are also part of the ranking

Public education and research institutions play a central role:

  • 66% of the Top50 are universities and public institutes.
