INPI’s Strategic Plan 2023-2026: MGI authorizes the appointment of 120 new employees for the institute.
On July 9, 2024, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), through Ordinance No. 4,860/2024, authorized the appointment of 120 candidates who passed the public competition held in January 2024 to join the Brazilian Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).
The institute will call those approved this month to verify compliance with the requirements of the positions. This update aligns with Strategy 7 of INPI’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, aimed at ensuring the replenishment and retention of the workforce to meet demand and sustain INPI’s high performance.
In addition to the conducted competition, recently, news was released on the official INPI page regarding endorsements from institutions such as the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABAPI), Farma Brasil Group, Brazilian Biotechnology Innovation Association (ABBI), Brazilian Fine Chemical, Biotechnology and Specialties Industries Association (ABIFINA), and São Paulo Intellectual Property Association (ASPI), among others, in favor of restructuring the career paths of INPI employees. These institutions argue that restructuring will bring lasting benefits to the Brazilian business environment, encourage research and development, and promote effective investments in innovation-focused public policies. With the letters presented, it is up to the MGI to analyze the proposals.
We understand that these actions are crucial for enhancing and ensuring that the INPI continues to play a vital role in fostering innovation and strengthening the business environment in Brazil. Moreover, they represent a significant step in the plan to tackle the backlog in patent application processing.
