News | BRPTO publishes the results of the Matchmaking Project in Green Technologies

The BRPTO published the results of the Matchmaking project in green technologies, promoted by the BRPTO itself, in partnership with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL), the European Union’s Euroclima+ Program, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE), the AL INVEST Verde DPI Action and the Royal Danish Embassy in Brazil.

The purpose of the matchmaking program is to establish commercial partnerships and joint technological projects involving green technologies, by connecting patent owners to companies interested in green technologies.

The preparation for the project began at the end of 2022, with the selection of experts to compose the technical team. In 2023, national intellectual property offices from seven Latin American countries (Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay) confirmed their interest in being part of the initiative.

Matchmaking actions were officially launched in March 2023, with the opening of registrations to technology providers and buyers. The information received was used to create catalogs containing details of the technologies so that participants could easily connect.

By July, 19 bilateral dialogues in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen, 34 in the field of waste management, and 43 in the area of sustainable agriculture were in place.

To date, the program reached 20 countries, generating 96 connections (matches).
