News | BRPTO changes procedure to optimize patent application processing

Last Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Directorate of Patents, Computer Programs, and Integrated Circuit Topographies, from the BRPTO, announced a significant change in the internal procedure for patent application analysis, expected to begin on January 1, 2024.

From this date forward, the examination order will no longer be determined by the filing date but rather by the examination request date. This modification, based on feedback received during Public Consultation No. 1 of 2023, seeks to provide agility and efficiency in decision-making related to patent applications, aligning Brazil with international practices.
