The Brazilian PTO has announced the extension of the PPH program with China.
The Brazilian Patent Office has informed, through a letter sent to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the continuation of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program between the two countries. Initially set to conclude on December 31st, 2024, the program will continue until a new memorandum of understanding is established, covering the period from 2025 to 2029.
The PPH is part of the Global Patent Prosecution Highway (GPPH), an initiative coordinated by the Japan Patent Office (JPO) to accelerate patent examinations by sharing information among intellectual property offices in different countries. This system streamlines processing time and costs, fostering international cooperation and procedural efficiency.
