News | Brazil will join WIPO’s Digital Access Service to Priority Documents for industrial designs
The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO) communicated that, as of August 1, 2023, Brazil will join the Digital Access Service (DAS) to Priority Documents of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as an accessing office for industrial designs.
This means that the BRPTO will accept the presentation of the WIPO-DAS code for access to official priority documents for industrial design applications. The applicant must inform the claimed priority number and the corresponding DAS code at the time of the registration request.
As informed by the BRPTO, the documents must contain the identification number, the filing date and the reproduction of the figures of the industrial design. The applicant will have a period of 90 days, counting from the filing date, to present the WIPO-DAS code.
